We were once again thrilled to be able to donate warm knitted clothes, especially during this cold time of the year in Nairobi, to the The Nest Baby Village which looks after infants, for the most part abandoned, as well as babies born of teenage mothers who stay at The Nest until they can be reintegrated with society at large. This most welcome donation was made by Countess M.J. von Walderdorf from Bavaria who knitted the useful items and requested our Ambassador Dr. Wilhelm von Trott zu Solz to deliver them to Nairobi, the same way as he did last year. The Countess has further informed the Ambassador that she will be making more of the knitwear for the children before the end of this year.
It is always astounding and humbling to witness the joy and humility with which such donations, however small, are received at The Nest, both by the mothers on behalf of their babies and the dedicated staff working at the facility. The Embassy and Companions were wholeheartedly thanked with prayer, song and dance and were truly touched by the outpouring of kindness and gratitude coming from very young underage women who have suffered unimaginable pain and humiliation as a result of indescribable and unacceptable gender-based violence.
