The 2025 White Cross Ball of the Companions of Kenya was held on the evening of 21st of June 2025 at the distinguished Muthaiga Club in Nairobi – a setting full of history, elegance, and charm. Guests were welcomed with an enchanting garden reception under the soft glow of lanterns and the rustling of trees, a perfect prelude to what would become a dazzling night of generosity, joy, and community.
As the sun set, the celebration moved into the beautifully adorned ballroom, dressed in the timeless colours of the Order of Malta – red and white. Every detail, from the floral arrangements to the table settings, echoed the Order’s enduring spirit of service and grace.
The evening formally began with warm opening words from Sam Mattock, whose heartfelt welcome set the tone. He was followed by a short but moving address from the Ambassador, H.E. Wilhelm von Trott zu Solz, reminding everyone of the real purpose behind the night: to raise vital funds for the sick and the poor of Kenya.
Adam Camenzuli, Treasurer of the Companions of Kenya, introduced the evening’s ambitious mission: to raise a record sum to support the humanitarian efforts of the Order in Kenya, with 100% of proceeds going directly to local projects. From mobile clinics to maternity units, these initiatives bring real impact where it’s needed most.
The evening unfolded with exquisite food, laughter, and heartfelt conversations. The raffle and live auction kept the room buzzing, with stunning prizes including luxury getaways, fine wines, and local treasures generously donated by supporters from near and far.
Just when it seemed the night couldn’t get any better – it was time for the legendary duck race. A crowd favourite, it did not disappoint. With ducks like Duck Vader, Feather Locklear, Duck Norris and Quackie Chan lining up at the starting gate, the crowd roared with delight. The atmosphere was electric as guests cheered their ducks down the course – a tradition that has become a beloved part of the evening. As the music took over, guests danced late into the night.
The event raised an amazing KES 900,000. To all those who gave so generously – with time, spirit, and donations – an enormous and heartfelt thank you. This night was not only a celebration but a powerful reminder of how joy and purpose can create lasting change.
