Thanks to a generous donation made to the Order, on Saturday, 22 nd June 2024, as a follow-up to May 2024, the Order and the Companions were able to distribute, through the good auspices of Fr. Maurizio Binaghi, Comboni Missionary Father, at St. John’s Church in Korogocho, additional mattresses and blankets to 70 selected families in the informal sector of Korogocho who have been affected not only by the floods in April but also by the demolitions undertaken by the authorities in Korogocho, Mathare and Dandora. Buildings of all kinds built on riparian land, i.e. near rivers are being demolished due to the existing high risks of mudslides and floods. However, the demolitions are taking place with no or little notice in the above-mentioned areas. As a result, many families are left with nothing and either sleep outside or, when lucky, are hosted by friends and neighbouring families. The distribution of these blankets and mattresses has been of great help to the homeless families and  those hosted by friends or neighbours.
