A Celebration of Faith, Community, and Enduring Partnership
The Order was honoured to attend the Dedication and Consecration of the newly built St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Kitisuru, Nairobi, a deeply spiritual and long-awaited milestone for the local Catholic community. The Embassy was invited in recognition of the many years of close and trusted cooperation between the Order and the Archdiocese of Nairobi – a partnership built on shared values and mutual respect.
The celebration began with a moving outdoor ceremony, as white doves rose into the sky, symbolising peace and the Holy Spirit, followed by joyful fireworks marking the festive spirit of the day.
The solemn Dedication and Consecration Mass was officiated by the Archbishop of Nairobi, His Grace Philip Arnold Subira Anyolo, joined by Father Cleophas Tesha, the Parish Priest of St. Catherine of Siena and priests and brothers of the Dominican Order, and brought together parishioners, religious leaders, and invited guests in a deeply reverent atmosphere filled with music, prayer, and community.
Following the liturgy, selected guests who had accompanied the long journey of the church’s construction over the past 25 years shared their reflections and gratitude. Their words offered insight into the perseverance, generosity, and unity that made the dream of St. Catherine’s a reality.
The event stood as a testament to the power of faith and cooperation across generations. It also reaffirmed the shared commitment of the Church and its partners – including the Order – to support spaces of spiritual growth, dignity, and hope.
The Order expresses its sincere appreciation for being part of this historic day and remains dedicated to walking alongside the parish as it continues to flourish.
May St. Catherine of Siena Parish be a source of grace, strength, and joy for many years to come.
