In the context of the COVID -19 pandemic, the Embassy of the Sovereign Order of Malta in Nairobi launched a feeding programme on 30th May 2020.

The initial recipients of this initiative were 50 families who received 150 food hampers to be distributed to them over a period of three weeks.   The hampers were delivered to the St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Kitisuru which, under the stewardship of Fr. Emmanuel Mulu, will give the hampers to pupils of the school and their needy families.  The Parish of St. Catherine of Siena hosted the celebration of Holy Mass on the occasion of the National Day in 2019 and 2020.

The Embassy chose this donation in answer to a national appeal for support to people who currently, because of the health crisis, find themselves jobless and, more than ever, without the means to buy essential food.

It is hoped that additional funds can be raised in order to extend this much needed feeding programme.
