The Embassy would like to express their gratitude to Dame Ann for her contribution to the work of the embassy over the past year. Dame Ann was appointed as a Consigliere in 2020 by the late Grand Master Giacomo dalla Torre del Tempio di Sanguinetto.

Her appointment follows her decades of dedication to helping people in need in Kenya and around the world.

A nurse for 20 years, Dame Ann is a co-founder of the international transport company Stagecoach Group Plc and one of Europe’s most successful businesswomen.

Her real passion lies in philanthropy and her charitable works have directly helped more than 120,000 women and children, especially in Africa.

Dame Ann has utilised her business acumen to create and develop successful charitable projects in Africa that focus on helping women and children receive quality healthcare and education, most notably Freedom From Fistula and Kenya Children’s Homes.  These charities help more than 22,000 women and children each year across Kenya, Sierra Leone, Malawi and Madagascar and she is also an international board member of Mercy Ships.

In 2019, Ann was bestowed the honour of Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire by Her Majesty Queen Elizbeth II, in recognition of her business and charitable contributions at home and abroad.
